TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE AREA
Integration management
Governance integrates planning, execution, change, knowledge, and closure; value and strategy also frame the work.
The Eighth Edition groups content differently. Related topics can appear in several domains and chapters.
Understand the area
Coordinate decisions across the whole project rather than optimizing one plan in isolation. In the Eighth Edition, integration is strongly visible in governance, value delivery, change assessment, and tailoring. An integrated plan is useful because its component plans agree about scope, schedule, finance, resources, risk, and decision rights. It is not simply a binder of separate documents.
Work through a project
A tested barrier section needs a different anchorage detail. Identify the approving authority, assess safety and compliance, quantify design, procurement, schedule and cost effects, communicate the decision, update affected baselines and records, and verify the revised installation before handover.
Check your reasoning
- Who can authorize this change, and on what evidence?
- Which connected plans and stakeholders must be updated?
- How will you verify that the decision still serves the intended benefit?
