TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE AREA
Communications management
Stakeholders integrates communications planning, management, and feedback.
The Eighth Edition groups content differently. Related topics can appear in several domains and chapters.
Understand the area
The Eighth Edition places communication decisions alongside stakeholder engagement. Match message, channel, frequency and feedback to the recipient's decision needs; a distributed notice does not prove that a safety-critical instruction was understood. Reporting should make status and escalation clear without burying stakeholders in artifacts.
Work through a project
Prepare different updates for the road authority, installation team, adjacent residents and supplier after a night-closure change. Confirm acknowledgement from people whose tasks or access are affected, and provide a route for questions and correction.
Check your reasoning
- What does each audience need to decide or do?
- How will you confirm understanding?
- Which information requires a formal record or escalation?
